World Language

The World Languages Department is proud to offer students the opportunity to study another language and culture so students may learn more about themselves and the world around them. Through our beginner and advanced courses, the World Languages Department believes in creating communicative global citizens while meeting the unique needs of each student.

Students have the ability to choose between 5 different languages offered by the Rye City School District and the teachers in the Department are committed to helping students learn through various techniques and modalities.  Additionally, students are invited to take more than one language and further their language skills.

We offer Spanish, French, Latin, Mandarin, and American Sign Language as well as Honors and Advanced Placement courses for most languages.

The World Languages Department offers the Seal of Biliteracy award in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages, with the vision of helping students recognize the value of their academic success and see the tangible benefits of being bilingual.
