About our School

Exterior of Rye High School

Rye High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school with a population of 882 students, a teaching staff of 106, and accreditation from the New York State Department of Education. Rye High School has been constantly recognized for its academic strengths by placing in the top 100  high schools in the national rankings conducted by The Washington Post and Newsweek Magazine.  

Rye High School fosters a rigorous and supportive academic environment that prepares students  for college and beyond. To meet the needs of all our students, we offer classes at the Honors and Regents levels. Students can pursue a broad range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, which emphasizes critical thinking, research, and global perspectives. The Academy at Rye High School offers a selective, two-year interdisciplinary program for juniors and seniors centered on project-based learning and  community action research. In partnership with Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA) and St. John’s College Advantage, Rye students may also earn dual-enrollment credit through college-level courses. Specialized opportunities further enrich learning, including Project Lead the Way (PLTW) for aspiring engineers, Science Research for original, mentored investigations, and concentrations in the Arts, Engineering & Computer Science, and Career & Technical Education through Southern Westchester BOCES.

We also offer an extensive extracurricular program which includes the performing and fine arts, instrumental and vocal music, service-oriented clubs, fund-raising clubs, student publications as well as diverse interest clubs which enable each student to select activities suited to his or her talents and interests. In addition, the Rye High School Athletic program offers twenty different sports for both men and women.  The athletic opportunities and schedules are located on the Athletic site under "Departments", found on the District home page.  Thank you for visiting our site.
